A Greensburg slide show was finally born this morning - with Javelyn’s “Not Alone” song highlighting the pictures of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ Greensburg, along with pictures from Arkansas City.
Onward to the show - they were met with Jake Willoughby and his crew from Willoughby’s Music in Winfield and Guitar Center from Wichita to set up sound and lights. Steve Butler from 1st Baptist Church, Arkansas City was on hand as well as Tony Tapia of Ark City Park & Recreation. Everyone was extremely helpful, and the equipment was amazing. The sound system and lights were all donated for the big event, as well as the venue.
The bands started arriving around 1:30 pm with “Yes, I’m Losin” being the first ones after a long 3 hour trip from Oklahoma City. The rest trickled in and it was time for the show.
Everyone sounded great - the sound and lighting were nice. There were many raffles, including over $1,000 of nice stuff donated from Guitar Center, Wichita and a Mat Hoffman bike. “Yes I’m Losing” ended up winning the Mat Hoffman bike, then donating it back to the City of Greensburg.
A winner was announced - SHUGA DADDY! They’re coming to Los Angeles in February, 2008. Great rock and roll band - they brought the most people, had the most enthusiastic response, sold a lot of t-shirts and rocked the house! They were the perfect band X-it Rite Records was looking for to bring back to Los Angeles to play two shows in February. Shuga Daddy ended up giving $100 back to Greensburg from their personal band proceeds.
