Greensburg Benefit

Today Jason and Javelyn took at 6:30 a.m. flight out of Los Angeles, arriving in Wichita, Kansas at 2:30 pm.  They were delighted to find their rental car waiting in the baggage claim area.  Wichita is such a delightful airport - the car was just across the street and the people were very accommodating at Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Off they went to Arkansas City, stalling only on the way to stop for a stalled train - Jason thought fast and took a short cut u-turn, back to the main drag to Arkansas City.  They stopped along the way to eat at an all-you-can eat super buffet consisting of all the Chinese food you could eat for under five bucks each!  Kansas is a great place.

Jason and Javelyn then stopped to visit Jason’s grandmother and grandfather, Jim and Jean Wright, who had been in town for over 50 years.  Javelyn’s eyes grew longer and longer - until it was time to go to the Hotel - the Best Western Atrium Hotel - aah- such the life.  They were greeted with, again, some very nice people who gave them a very great room looking out on the hotel atrium - as good as any Hilton or Hyatt they’d stayed at.  They also found that Sydney Bland, the Editor of Action! Magazine had given them a full coverpage and article covering the whole Greensburg Benefit Event.

After Javelyn taking a nap and Jason canvasing the town with Greensburg Benefit posters, they met and decided to do a night on the town.  They asked Tina at the front desk of the Best Western where to go for a drink and shooting pool and she pointed them to a new place called The Red Zone.  Arriving at the Red Zone, they met the daughter of the owner, Heather, who proceeded to tell them all sorts of stories about the Greensburg tornado in May since she had many relatives living in Pratt, including one cousin in particular who was in the heart of Greensburg.  She was getting married, and the tornado tore down everything in the house except for one closet which contained her wedding dress.
